A filling monoblock combines several container-handling operations within one coordinated machine. A rinser-filler-capper, often called a triblock, brings bottle treatment, filling and closing together. The useful comparison starts with the required operations, product, bottle and closure: similar machine descriptions can cover substantially different configurations.
Elitekno sources used filling monoblocks and offers new equipment from European OEMs on request. We help define the technical requirement for an individual unit or its place within a complete bottling project. Explore used filling monoblocks, or send your project specifications for a focused assessment.
Define the operations before comparing monoblocks
A filler-capper and a rinser-filler-capper perform different sets of operations. Other configurations can incorporate bottle deaeration, gas injection, an additional closing station or other treatment. Terms such as monoblock, triblock and four-operation block are used differently across manufacturers and ranges: request the actual process sequence for the offered model.
Also distinguish a bottle filling monoblock from an integrated PET blowing-filling-capping system. The latter includes bottle production from preforms. Neither description, by itself, confirms that product preparation, labelling, secondary packaging or pallet handling is included in the supply.
Read the configuration, not just the model code
Numbers in a machine designation can describe the number of rinser positions, filling valves and closing heads. Their meaning and order must be confirmed against the manufacturer’s documentation. They are not an output rating. Ask for a module-by-module configuration:
| Module | Information to confirm |
|---|---|
| Rinser | Positions, bottle gripping, nozzles, treatment media and sequence. |
| Filler | Valves, filling principle, product circuit and relevant gas or vacuum functions. |
| Closer | Heads, closure technology, feeding arrangement and supplied tooling. |
| Shared systems | Transfer arrangement, controls, utilities, cleaning provisions and format parts. |
Request output in containers per hour for each required product and format. A litres-per-hour figure alone does not establish bottle throughput, and a quoted maximum should be distinguished from the operating requirement for your project.
Specify the rinser, filler and closer separately
Bottle treatment and rinsing
Confirm how the bottle is held and inverted, which nozzle arrangement is fitted, the available treatment stages and their timing. Air treatment and liquid rinsing require different provisions. Specify the required media, their quality and supply conditions, drainage and any recovery circuit. A recirculation or filtration arrangement does not, on its own, establish a validated sanitation process. Internal bottle treatment also differs from external bottle washing and drying.
Filling principle and product conditions
Gravity, pressure or isobaric, vacuum, volumetric and weight-based filling describe different approaches. Volumetric systems can themselves use different measuring technologies, including flowmeters or piston arrangements. Suitability depends on the offered valve and product circuit, as well as the liquid and container.
Provide filling temperature, carbonation where relevant, viscosity, foaming behaviour and any particles. Define the required fill level, volume or weight and the acceptance method appropriate to the system. Ask which pressure, gas, return and cleaning functions are actually fitted. A vacuum pump may serve a corking operation rather than the filling valves; identify its function before drawing conclusions.
Closure application and feeding
Prethreaded screw caps, roll-on closures, crown caps, corks and press-fit closures require different equipment and checks. Screw-on application torque and roll-on thread forming are different processes. Specify the closure drawing, neck finish and required application criteria, including tamper-evident features where applicable.
Check the closing heads together with the elevator, orienter and transfer system. An additional closure type can require dedicated heads, tooling, feeding equipment or another station; a second closure cannot be assumed from the machine’s general description.
Match the bottle and every required format
Supply bottle drawings and samples where available, including material, dimensions, neck finish and stability requirements. Confirm how the bottle is supported through each operation. A machine originally configured for one container should not be assumed suitable for another material or shape without checking its handling and process requirements.
Identify the supplied timing screws, starwheels, guides, grippers, filling interfaces and closing tooling for each format. Separate parts already included from parts to be sourced or manufactured. Elitekno can assess spare and change parts, including screws, starwheels and tooling, within the agreed project scope. This check is particularly useful when comparing a used monoblock with a newly specified unit.
Check the connection to the rest of the line
Confirm machine direction, inlet and outlet positions, conveyor heights, available space and access for maintenance. Review upstream product supply and downstream handling against the required operating rate. Define power, compressed air, process gas, water and other utilities from the actual configuration.
Ask for the available electrical documentation, control interfaces, cleaning procedure and changeover instructions. Describe any cold-fill, hot-fill or aseptic requirement explicitly: a general monoblock description does not establish those capabilities. Agree commissioning and acceptance criteria around the specified product, container and closure.
Choose a new or used monoblock around the project
A new European OEM unit can be considered on request, while a used machine should be assessed against its documented configuration, condition and available formats. Elitekno can also develop a line that combines new and used equipment according to technical requirements and budget. The right comparison includes the surrounding equipment and required work, alongside the monoblock itself.
Technical consultancy, machinery or line overhauls, transport coordination and commissioning can form part of the agreed scope. Confirm the inclusions and responsibilities in the quotation. For a broader project, see bottling lines; for individual equipment and format requirements, see bottling machines.
Send a useful filling monoblock enquiry
Include the product and filling conditions, bottle and closure drawings, all formats, required output for each format, and the operations to be included. Add the available layout, utility conditions, destination and project timing. For an existing unit, share its manufacturer, model, identification plate and available technical documents privately.
