Canning Lines and Machines

Plan beverage canning lines and canning machines around your product, can body, end specification and finished-pack target. Elitekno helps define the equipment and integration scope, with new equipment from European OEMs on request and used machinery assessed against the same production brief. Discuss a complete line, an expansion or an individual filling and closing requirement.

Specify the beverage before selecting a canning system

Beer, sparkling water, carbonated soft drinks and energy drinks can require different product conditions and treatment arrangements. State the recipe characteristics, carbonation, filling temperature and any relevant pulp or particles. Describe the intended product process and cleaning requirements so that the offered configuration can be assessed for your application.

Define the can formats commercially required at start-up and any planned additions. Provide supplier drawings and representative samples for the can body and end. Volume alone does not describe a format: include body diameter, height, end specification and material. Record each format as a separate entry in the equipment schedule.

What equipment belongs in a complete canning line?

Set the boundary of supply explicitly. Depending on the project, a canning line may connect empty-can feeding or depalletising, container preparation and inspection, filling, end feeding and seaming, filled-can inspection, product treatment, drying, coding, packing and pallet handling. Conveyors, accumulation and controls connect these operations.

A filler-seamer block covers a defined part of that sequence. It does not, by itself, establish that depalletising, treatment or end-of-line packaging is included. For each proposed machine, list the model, operation, included tooling, capacity basis and interfaces. Mark auxiliaries and project services that require a separate quotation.

Review the filler and seamer as one production section

The proposed filler must match the product conditions and can formats. The seamer must match the body-and-end combination and the required operating range. Review the transfer between the two machines, container support, end supply and installed format parts together.

Ask which handling parts, seaming tooling and adjustments are needed for each body and end specification. Record the items supplied and the work proposed for a format conversion. A nominal can size or a machine family name is not sufficient evidence of compatibility.

Where commissioning or acceptance testing is proposed, define filling and closing checks with the equipment and packaging specifications. Agree the inspection methods, samples, run conditions and records, including how seam quality will be assessed. Request the applicable machine documentation and the tooling information available for the offered configuration.

Express output in cans and finished packs

State the target in cans per hour for each format and beverage. Ask which operating conditions support the quoted rating, and distinguish a nominal machine figure from observed production. Include planned operating hours, batch sizes and product or format changes in the brief.

Translate the can flow into the packaging units required. A target of 12,000 cans per hour in six-can packs represents 2,000 packs per hour, or about 33.3 packs per minute, before allowing for production losses. Check whether the packer rating refers to packs per minute, packs per hour or another defined cycle.

For pallet handling, record the pack pattern, packs per layer, layers per pallet and the capacity unit used in the proposal. Review transfers and accumulation through the whole system. A filler rating alone cannot establish the sustainable output of the connected line.

Separate thermal treatment from container drying

Specify the product-treatment process your beverage requires. A tunnel pasteuriser, a container warmer and a dryer perform different tasks. Identify the required operation, process conditions, controls and utilities instead of selecting a machine from its appearance or the word “tunnel”.

For proposed thermal equipment, review treatment zones, container path, heating and cooling arrangements and the monitoring scope. For drying, define the condition required before coding, labelling or packing. Confirm how each operation will be integrated with the filler, seamer and downstream equipment.

Choose the downstream packaging configuration

Provide the retail pack and transport pack specifications: cans per group, film or carton material, trays or pads where required, case arrangement and pallet pattern. Include format drawings and samples when available. Review grouping, machine change parts and the handover to conveyors and pallet handling.

Compare new, used and mixed equipment proposals

For new European OEM equipment on request, confirm the offered model, configured options, formats, technical documents and delivery scope. For used canning equipment, request the installed configuration, current condition, nameplates, available maintenance information, tooling and proposed preparation work. Confirm availability and inspection arrangements for each offer.

Elitekno can compose a line from sourced machinery and discuss configurations combining new and used units. The assessment should identify mechanical transfers, controls, utilities and the work required at every interface. Use an itemised scope and project budget to compare the routes.

Plan the factory interfaces and project services

Provide the site layout, access routes, electrical supply and available utilities. Review conveyor heights and direction, working clearances, maintenance access, product connections and the controls signals between neighbouring machines. Identify who supplies and installs each connection or auxiliary.

Elitekno can arrange technical assessment, complete machinery or line overhauls, commissioning and worldwide transport to an agreed scope. Professional packing and sea-container loading can include moisture and corrosion precautions specified for the route and equipment. Record dismantling, loading, documentation, delivery and start-up responsibilities in the quotation.

Request a canning line or machine proposal

Send your beverage specification, can-body and end drawings, required formats, target output, pack patterns, factory layout, destination, budget and project timing. If you are adding one machine, include the current line layout and surrounding equipment data. State whether you wish to evaluate new European OEM equipment, used equipment or both.
