Process conditions and hygienic design: Used Premix

Beverage process equipment must be selected from the product recipe, required treatment and hygienic standard. Pasteurization, heating, carbonation, premixing and filtration systems are not interchangeable and their real configuration must be documented.

Information to verify

• product composition, temperature, pressure and required treatment target
• flow range, residence time and control instrumentation
• tanks, pumps, exchangers, filters or dosing sections included
• CIP circuit, product-contact materials and drainability
• utilities, automation, recipes and available process documentation.

A used process system should be reviewed with a process flow diagram and instrument list. Confirm which skids and controls are included and whether the documented operating range covers the intended product without extrapolation.
